There was discussion about a name change for CIAA. It was mentioned that the state curriculum guide is Industrial Arts/Technology Education.
The name of the convention has been changed to “Colorado and the Rocky Mountain States Conference” 19 states were represented at the conference in November 14 – 16, 1985.
A survey has been sent out to all members regarding a possible name change. It was suggested keeping it compatible with the new curriculum guide “Colorado Industrial Arts/ Technology Education Association. In March it was moved and seconded that the board recommend the name change from CIAA to CIA/TEA. There was a suggestion for a logo contest by students with a $100 prize for the winner.
Overland High School was nominated as the first program of the year for Colorado for 1988.
Throughout the 80’s many workshops were held each year in all areas of the state. There was a concerted effort to reach out to all industrial arts teachers and to pave the way for technology education in all of Colorado. Project ideas and philosophies were shared. In the fall of 1989 a futurist committee was approved to establish a five year plan for the direction of technology education within the state.
