History

April 29, 1981

Pro and con views were presented relating to changing the CIAA convention from spring of the year to the fall.
A motion was made that a mail ballot be sent to all CIAA members so that everyone could have the opportunity to vote on this important issue.  In October the votes by membership and vendors were overwhelmingly in favor of a fall convention.

December 11, 1982

It was suggested that the CIAA Executive Board consider participating in the AIAA Industrial Arts Program of the Year.  In September of 1983 a committee was formed to research having such a program in the state.

Also in December, 1982, the state was divided into 20 areas.  All areas are by counties and each area will have a representative reporting to CIAA about industrial arts activities and the needs of the industrial arts teachers.

May 4, 1984

It was moved and seconded and unanimously passed that all five of the colleges and universities involved in industrial arts teacher education should select their outstanding students and all of them will be honored at the state convention.

Bill Lehman presented a written report on the first Curriculum Committee meeting held April 12.  A one week workshop for the development of a state industrial arts curriculum will be offered by Western State College.  This is also the first time technology education is mentioned.
